Our house

 Hello friends,

Everyone (mostly my Mom) is asking for pictures of our new house, so here they are. We are almost completely unpacked and settled, we just need to do some decorating and hang some pictures and we'll be done.

Front of the house- we finally have a garage!!

Backyard- We love the aspen trees. So much prettier than pine. And we actually have grass! Can you believe it?! Since we're not living in a thicket, the ground actually gets sunlight and things grow down there! It's amazing.

Our container garden, including tomatoes, bell peppers, broccoli, yellow squash, swiss chard, basil, thyme, oregano and chives. You may be wondering what those plastic covers are around the pots in the middle. They're called AquaWraps and apparently you can't grow heat-loving plants up here without them. You fill each of the sections/envelopes/tubes (I don't know what to call them) with water, and they capture heat from the sun during the day to keep plants warm at night. When it gets down to 40F at night, they are very necessary to keep your tomatoes happy. They're also supposed to extend the growing season.
View from our front door. The main part of the house is open-concept. The living room, dining room, kitchen and family room are all open to each other.

Our family room. Yes, that is some kelly green carpeting. Somehow, it's actually beginning to grow on us. I think the designers were trying to bring the outdoors in.This room has 8 of those huge windows AND 2 skylights. It is officially the brightest room of all time. This photo was not taken using a flash. Try that in your house. Our bedroom opens onto this room, so we have to keep the door closed. Oh, also, it gets bright here at 4:30am. It's crazy.

This is a gas stove, for all you southerners who have never seen one before. We have already used it twice, on days when the high was in the 50s, and it was in the 30s when we woke up. It gets very hot very fast. It's pretty awesome.

Also, look how cute our dog is.

View from the dining room into the living room.

View from our living room- more aspen trees.
View from our front yard. Those are the freaking Rocky Mountains, people! How cool is that?! You can see them from all over town, to the south and to the west. Beautiful. Of course, photos don't do them justice. You should just come visit us and see them for yourself!

Okay, well we are heading out on vacation in a few hours, to celebrate our 7 year wedding anniversary! Tonight we're seeing Romeo & Juliet under the stars at an outdoor theatre, tomorrow is whitewater rafting, and then lots of Denver site seeing. Lots of exciting pictures to come soon. Miss y'all!

Love,
Carly
